Valentine Day is a day for which most lovers wait for the entire year. They wait to express their feelings to their lovers and the best time for that is “the day of love – Valentine’s Day“.
Who was VALENTINE?
Valentine’s Day is also called Saint Valentine’s Day or you can also say the Feast of Saint Valentine. It is an annual holiday celebrated on February 14. The origin of valentine day was as a Western Christian feast day. It was for honoring one or more early saints named Valentinus. This day is now recognized as a significant cultural and commercial celebration of romance around the world. Yet, it is not a public holiday in any country.
Several stories are associated with various Valentines connected to February 14. These are presented in martyrologies. It includes a written account of Saint Valentine of Rome’s imprisonment which was for performing weddings for soldiers, who were forbidden to marry and also for ministering to Christians persecuted under the Roman Empire. As per the legend, during his imprisonment, Saint Valentine restored sight to the blind daughter of his judge. The time before his execution he wrote her a letter signed “Your Valentine” as a farewell.
So, from that day this day is celebrated as a day of loved one’s. It is celebrated by all lovers with great excitement. What we call it nowadays, is an entire Valentine’s week starting from the very first day, that is the rose day on 7th of February till the Valentine’s Day on 14th of February.
